Exciting news!

Our super special Christmas Issue is now available for you to order! 

Filled with festive crafts, recipes, music, stories and more, Issue 4 is titled "a handmade magazine, celebrating a handmade Christmas".... because we believe that Christmas shouldn't be about consumerism, but instead it can be celebrated beautifully and simply when we make it about handmade, simple traditions and thinking about others. 

We have made this Issue with the hope that it will encourage us all to rethink how we celebrate Christmas. We have had some fabulous contributions from crafters, musicians, and writers near and far who celebrate Christmas in their own unique way. We have kept many of our regular features, while making a few changes to suit our Christmas theme.

Hundreds and Thousands Magazine First Birthday!!

We celebrated the mag's FIRST BIRTHDAY last Saturday with a Picnic Party in our hometown of Melbourne, Australia. As is to be expected in Melbourne, the weather was cold, windy, wet....and occasionally sunny, but we had a lovely gathering regardless! It was wonderful to thank our friends, family, contributors and supporters....and to meet a few for the first time!! We are already dreaming of our 2nd birthday party...so stay tuned!!

Thankyou so much to everybody who has bought, shared, loved and contributed to this little magazine. As we have always said, we jumped in head first with not a lot of experience or even much of a clue about why we were doing this and how....but we knew we wanted to make a little handmade zine that we would love, and you have no idea how much joy it has given us this past year to see so many other people love it too! "Hundreds and Thousands" is what it is because of the wonderful community that has grown around it! So, thankyou, thankyou! To all of our interstate and overseas supporters who couldn't make it to the picnic...we missed you and we are grateful for all that you have done!

Front Cover Design Competition!!!!!!

Hello lovelies,

Do you like designing pretty images? Perhaps you're a crafter, illustrator, photographer? Well if so, this competition is for you!! Issue four of Hundreds and Thousands will be a special "Handmade Christmas" Issue, and we want YOU to design our front cover!!

Sound exciting? To enter, read the details below.

-We are looking for an image only. We will add text and our logo to it later, so please...no writing on your entry!

-The theme is "a handmade Christmas" so let your imagination run wild!

-The image needs to be a rectangular portrait shape, with plenty of space on the sides and the top half fairly empty so we can pop our logo in. (Check out Mezz's wonderful instructions below!!)

-Have a look at our previous covers below for an idea of what we like. We like clear, simple images full of love, pretty and handmade!

-Our favourite entry will become the front cover for our Christmas Issue. The winner will receive a free copy of our Christmas Issue, and a special handmade Christmas present from us! (And exposure to all of our readers/followers.)

-We will share all of your entries on our blog, so even if we don't pick your's for the front page, we will make sure everyone gets to see your hard work!!

Issue 2 is out now!!!

We are so excited to announce that Issue 2 of Hundreds and Thousands Mag is going on sale today! Hooray!!

Easy Orange Cake Recipe (from our Starter Issue)C

Hello lovelies!

This simple Orange Cake recipe featured in our very first publication, the Hundreds and Thousands Starter Issue, on one of our "Pop on an Apron" pages. Since both our Starter Issue and Issue One have completely sold out we thought we'd share this yummy recipe here with you.

Easy Orange Cake

150 g melted butter/marge
3 extra large eggs
150 ml milk
50 ml orange juice
grated orange rind (1 orange)
500 ml SR flour
pinch salt
250 ml caster sugar

1. Beat butter, eggs, milk, orange juice, rind well
2. Sift dry ingredients 
3. add dry ingredients to butter mixture
4. blend well together
5. Pour into two 20cm cake tins that have been well greased
6. Bake at 180 C for about 30 minutes
7. Ice when cool

Markets, Festivals, Zines, Websites and more!!

Hello, hello!!

We thought we'd say g'day and let you know what we've been up to since putting Hundreds and Thousands Mag Issue One out into the big wide world!! 

We continue to post mags each week to all the lovely people who are ordering them from our online store. Not only are we posting zines all over Australia, but to many places all over the world! Our handmade little magazine is now heading off to places such as New Zealand, USA, UK, Netherlands and more!! 

Taz has been super busy. She had her first market stall (along with one of our fab sponsors Lola and Joy) a few weeks ago at the brand new Abbotsford Market in Melbourne. She sold lots of her Butter and Buntings makes (her handmade label) and copies of Hundreds and Thousands!! Her stall was super pretty, don't you think??

Mezz has been busy with all sorts of bits and bobs, including recording her EP. She also had the opportunity to perform at the gorgeous Yackandandah Folk Festival in March. Yackandandah is a stunning town in country Victoria (with the worlds longest bunting!!) and their annual Festival is fantastic, featuring many local and International acts! Taz came along too, and one of the highlights was meeting Claire (aka Sweet Birdy Love) who is a local to Yackandandah and one of our favourite craft bloggers! We passed on a copy of Hundreds and Thousands of course! 

Both Taz and Mezz were chuffed to be featured on the inspiring Bespoke Zine website over the last few weeks. Both articles were about our creative spaces. Click here for Taz's article and here for Mezz's. 

We have noticed that a huge amount of our readers seem to have found us via our personal Instagram profiles, so with that in mind we finally got our act together and have set up a Hundreds and Thousands profile on Intstagram! It's been loads of fun, (because Instagram is loads of fun,) and we are meeting new creative folk each day! Find us @hundredsandthousandsmag
